Friday we left for a long overdue trip to Ohio. It is an 8-9 hour drive, so we wanted to break it up to make it easier for the girls. We left at 6pm and intended to drive to Cincinnati, but ended up going to Columbus and then couldn't find a hotel. We finally found a hotel about an hour outside of Milan - which was great for the kids, but was exhausting for the adults! :)
We got to Milan mid-morning Saturday. Roger and Lu had driven up from Cleveland and were there waiting. The girls had a blast with their cousins. Caden really bonded with Jaime and Jillie while Raegan curiously enough was bff's with Julia. Addy and Jace had a lot of fun together. It was fun listening to them "talk" to each other.
Saturday was a beautiful day, so we visited and grilled out burgers for dinner. On Sunday went to Church and then to Jaime's softball game. The day started out warm, but by the time we went to the ballgame, it was freezing. It started to snow Monday, so Chad, Jen, and I took Jaime, Jillie, Caden and Raegan to see "Monsters vs. Aliens." Roger and Lu watched the little ones and since Julia is now a freshmen, she couldn't afford to miss school. Tuesday it continued to snow and the other Danda's had to go back to school, so Roger and Lu took us to see Edison's birthplace. It was a really cool tour. Poor Jace was sick, so Jen stayed home.
Chad wanted to be back home Wednesday, so we would have a day to recuperate before he had to go back to work. We decided to drive halfway again and so we left Tuesday night. But the girls fell asleep and Chad wasn't tired so he drove all the way home. It felt good to wake up at home and not have to drive more -- of course my coffee maker broke so we were dragging just a bit this morning.
We really had a lot of fun in Milan. Thanks Dandas and Roger and Lu for making the trip so memorable!!! We promise not to let another four years pass between visits!
